A Story I'm Working On
Chapter One
Nathan Scott woke up with a major headache, he looked around the room but didn’t know where he was? He closed his eyes again and tried to remember what had happened and where he was. He came to the conclusion that he DIDN’T KNOW. He tried to remember the last thing he had done but came up with nothing. He opened his eyes again and was met by the strong light from the uncovered window. He once again looked around the room to see if he could remember where he was or why he was there. It was a room with white walls and one window. He followed the walls with his eyes till he came to the monitor beside his bed. He looked at his arm and saw that it was connected to the monitor. He was in a hospital. But why? He couldn’t remember…
Haley James lay in the hospital crying, why did this happen to her? Why now? She had been so happy, when the other car hit them, forcing them over the edge of the bridge. And now he’s dead, the love of her life, her Duncan. Well he wasn’t really dead, he was in a coma, but that’s not far from dead. They had been on their way home from the Raven’s basketball game when they decided to take a shortcut over the bridge, it had been dark and when they saw the other car’s headlights it had been to late. Their car had flown in to the water, and that was the last thing she remembered, except one thing, the driver of the other car… it was a man.
He felt the presence of somebody and slowly opened his eyes. “ How are you feeling Mr. Scott? Does your head hurt?”, the nurse asked as she watched the monitor and watched his pulse before she went to take up the journal that hung by the end of the bed. Nathan tried to sit up but lay down again as fest as the pain in his head grew stronger. “ What happened to me?”, he asked in what was almost a whisper. The nurse ignored his question and wrote something down in the journal before she went towards the door. “ Nurse, what happened to me?”, Nathan tried again. The nurse turned around with a worried face. “ Um, you’ll have to ask the police that question. I’m sorry I have to go check on the other patients now.” She walked out of the room and left Nathan alone with his thoughts. “ What happened? What did I do?” He felt the headache grow stronger and closed his eyes, and soon he was deep asleep.
Nurse Willis walked out of the room and signaled to the policeman that was standing a little bit away. He walked
To her and met her with a question, “ I’m officer Harmond ,is Mr. Scott awake?” Nurse Willis walked over to the desk and turned to Harmond. “ Yes he is but I don’t think he will be to much use.”
“ What do you mean?”
“ He’s suffered from memory loss”
Harmond looked at her and asked worried, “ How bad is it?”
“ It’s bad”
Haley sat on a chair beside Duncan’s bed. He had been in a coma for three days now and the doctors said that the only one that knew when he was going to wake up was himself. She had been by his side everyday since the crash. She had only gotten a broken leg but he had been on the side that hit with the other car so he hadn’t been that lucky. Haley didn’t hear the man that came into the room. “ Miss James?”, the man walked over to her as she turned around.
“ Yes that’s me.” She stood up and shook his hand.
“ I’m officer Harmond. I’m investigating this accident and I’d like to ask you some questions if you don’t mind.”
“ Yeah sure I’ll try to help as much as I can”, she looked at Duncan and felt tears running down her cheeks. ”I want you to find the man that did this.”
Harmond looked at her and took up his note pad and started writing. “ How do you know it was a man?”
Haley kept looking at Duncan. “ Because I saw him before we went over the edge of the bridge.”
